Garage Door Manufacturers
Buyers Guides

When you start looking at garage doors, there are dozens of garage door manufacturers to choose from. The choices they offer are almost endless. Some companies sell products almost worldwide, but there are a number of smaller regional manufacturers to choose from also.

Your local big-box home improvement store is likely to sell products from one or more of the "big boys" such as Clopay, Amaar, or Wayne-Dalton. For many of the regional manufacturers, you will have to go to an independent, local distributor who will also install the product for you.

Below is a list that includes some of the smaller, regional garage door manufacturers. I have provided links to "Quick Comparison Guides" that summarize the specs of the different residential models that are offered by each of these manufacturers. I will be adding more of these buyer's guides as time allows, so check back again before you buy.

Delden Garage Doors has been in business since 1964 in the central part of the United States. They manufacture residential and commercial overhead sectional models in steel, as well as custom wood designs. Delden's corporate headquarters is in Kansas City, and they also have branches in Des Moines, Lincoln, Wichita, Tulsa, St. Louis, Camdenton, and Springfield.

GADCO Garage Doors, also known as the General American Door Company, has been making garage doors since 1965. Their headquarters is in Montgomery IL, and they have nine wholesale distribution centers in the eastern half of the US. Holmes doors can be found at a number of different big-box retailers as well as independent lumber yards and hardware stores.

They have a wide variety of different models to choose from in steel, aluminum, glass, and even copper. All of their residential designs are of the sectional overhead type. They also manufacture commercial models in the same materials, as well as roll up commercial doors. Martin prides themselves on the safety features of their door systems, and has independent dealers in many US states.

Midland Garage Doors has been in business since 1978 and is based in West Fargo, ND, with branches in Minnesota and Nebraska. They produce sectional overhead steel models for both residential and commercial use, and they also offer a line of doors with a composite wood overlay. They have over 2000 dealers in 21 states and in Canada.

Wayne Dalton Garage Doors is one of the top garage door manufacturers in the US. They have been in business since 1954, and offer a wide variety of sectional overhead residential designs, as well as commercial products. Wayne Dalton's residential models come in steel, fiberglass, glass-aluminum, and wood. I have a separate buyers guide for the wooden Wayne Dalton models. Wayne Dalton products can be purchased through a large network of independent dealers as well as some big-box retail stores.

They manufacture steel doors for both residential and commercial applications. Their residential models are all of the sectional overhead design, and can be purchased through a number of independent dealers across the United States.
